| Supplying a collection of wood pieces, visitors were invited to construct tables or table-like structures to be used in the sharing of a meal. The idea was to stimulate a consideration of the table as a space and performative device that creates particular forms of intimacy and behavior. By putting the table into question visitors were given the opportunity to rethink the form of the table, and the eventual collective act of eating together. In addition, the act of construction was paralleled by the act of cooking we undertook, thereby creating an exchange of labor - the meal was served once the tables were ready. |
